IG 2013 update with pretty pictures

The bulk of my off-hours are now being spent learning Illustrator in order to put together images for my upcoming color theory presentation for Industry Giants, the North Texas animation and visual effects seminar.

Here’s one illustration – demonstrating the concepts of simultaneous contrast and assimilation. This image only has three colors – and somewhat muted, muddy colors at that. The black bars create local saturation enhancement and the varying ratios of the three stripes create chromatic (“hue”) induction across an entire spectrum – giving the illusion of a rainbow.

Hopefully my explanation during the class won’t be so dry!
